Voter backlash .... what's that? Apparently it's no concern whatsoever to South Jersey Democratic chieftains. Just recently the Atlantic County Democrat's held what can best be described as a "restricted" nominating convention. The so-called party of the working man did not see fit to invite their 2010 Congressional candidate, Gary Stein, a self described working stiff who resides in Atlantic County. A humble small businessman who cleans offices for a living, who, when nobody else filed to run against Frank LoBiondo two years ago, stepped up and filled the void quite admirably.
But alas, poor janitor; he- that was eager to finish very important unfinished business with the entrenched incumbent -gives plenty of advance notice to the Democratic apparatchiks. He's an announced candidate, as reported by the local paper on Dec. 11, 2011. But several attempts to reach out to kingmaker, County Chairman/Lawyer, Pat D'Arcy over the next several months go unanswered. That's the truth, case closed. Still, Stein visits the medical malpractice and personal injury attorney three weeks ago without, OMG, an appointment and sits with the "supreme one" for 5 minutes in order to remind him he has an announced and eager candidate waiting in the wings. No need to embrace the energetic outsider, but don’t go looking for someone else either. “I’m inside Lobi’s head,” Stein says, “leave me go it alone and we’ll make it tougher than Lobi ever imagined!” Another call, this one to the Cape May County chairman to explain things, never gets returned. The poor dlub sees it all quite clearly, the cabal is complete and the fix is in.
Like the smoke filled room of lore, it's preordained; a tiny "committee" of party elders, passes on the janitor and go with a complete unknown; the wife, the "marketing director" of another medical malpractice and personal injury attorney Bard Shober; by coincidence, a former law partner of D'Arcy. (End of third person narrative).
Crap! This nominee- the “marketing director” -who for gosh sakes, as far as I can tell, has never even written a "letter to the editor" expressing an opinion on anything, never mind run for office, now finds herself in the super advantageous column A position on the ballot; all but certain to win the June primary and the right to represent Democrats in, to be sure, another one sided contest against LoBiondo. He must be relieved. You folks can be the judge, go to my web site. I pounded the Congressman in 2010, but only spent $500 of my own money on the race. For the record, the campaign, all of it, is still there at SteinforCongress.com. This year would have, and still could be,the exciting climax of 3 runs actually; in 2008 I ran as an Independent and got my first look at the sickening state of insider politics
I'm not quite sure what to make of this calumny by Pat D'Arcy, but it does make one curious whether convention goers- party activists all of them -knew that the wife (the "marketing director") of one lawyer, a former D’Arcy law partner, both medical malpractice attorneys -would be the South Jersey Democrats choice to defend the Affordable Care Act from attack this fall by Republicans. Gary Stein, Democrat, formerly a Republican until the year 2010, on that score has been calling for Single Payer, Government Sponsored Health Care for four long years. Yes, even as a Republican candidate for Governor in 2009 ($100 spent), I called the Health Care crisis for the uninsured and under-insured, America's Holocaust. Indeed, I've even put up a tax simplification plan, and suggestions for minor government reorganization that would offer some appeal to tight wad Republicans and would pay for Universal Health Coverage for all Americans.
Cassandra Shober and the entire "marketing department" will play catch up in next several months if as now likely, she glides to a primary win as the Column A candidate. But, Democrats would be wise to go "off-column" and vote for me, a candidate who's on the record already on every single issue; is a proven straight talker, and is ready to work his behind off in the next seven months and talk common sense with fellow Democrats, as well as Independents, and that's right, Republicans too. I'm beseeching all Democrats, I, much more likely than her, can win over, not ALL, but a significant per cent-age of 2nd district voters of every persuasion, vote Column B on June 5th..... PLEASE!
What the Current (Shore News) printed .... with, alas ....some of the sarcasim missing. All in all, not complaining.
Democrats Choice Shows The Fix Is In
To the editor:
Apparently voter backlash is of no concern to South Jersey Democratic chieftains.
Recently the Atlantic County Democrats held what can best be described as a "restricted" nominating convention. The so-called party of the working man did not see fit to invite me, a working stiff, Atlantic County resident and 2010 congressional candidate.
I’m a humble small businessman who cleans offices for a living who, when nobody else filed to run against Frank LoBiondo two years ago, stepped up and filled the void.
I, a poor janitor, am eager to finish important unfinished business with the entrenched incumbent, and gave plenty of advance notice to the Democratic apparatchiks. I was an announced candidate, as reported by the local paper on Dec. 11, 2011.
But several attempts to reach out to kingmaker, attorney and Atlantic County Democratic Chairman Pat D'Arcy over the next several months went unanswered.
Still, I visited with the medical malpractice and personal injury attorney three weeks ago, without an appointment, and sat with him for five minutes to remind him that he has an announced and eager candidate waiting in the wings. There’s no need to embrace the energetic outsider or go looking for someone else.
“I’m inside Lobi’s head,” I said. “Leave me go it alone and we’ll make it tougher than Lobi ever imagined.”
Another call, this one to the Cape May County chairman to explain things, never got returned. I see it all quite clearly; the cabal is complete and the fix is in.

He must be relieved.
You folks can be the judge. Go to my website. I pounded the congressman in 2010, but only spent $500 of my own money on the race. The campaign record is still there at www.SteinforCongress.com.

I'm beseeching all Democrats; I am much more likely than she to win over a significant percentage of 2nd District voters of every persuasion.
Vote Column B on June 5, please.
