Question 1 Tax Policies for a Stronger Economy
Gary Stein: On the other
hand, I’m not just about criticizing, I have proposals.. If I could
wave a magic wand and be F.D.R. for a day (with a little Ronald Reagan
mixed in) the tax coffers could simultaneously overflow, and there'd be
money for much needed programs, like Universal Health Coverage. A "New
Deal" a "Fair Deal?" Maybe, call it "What a Deal" First, we'd
overhaul the entire public sector, and revamp the civil service code.
We’d eliminate the I.R.S. from everyone's lives, except for those making
more than, say half a million bucks a year. Eliminate U.S. corporate
taxes, eliminate any state income taxes and sales taxes. Now, here’s the tax windfall in exchange for that.
First, eliminate cash, and you, just eliminated the underground
economy. We're getting gitty in D.C. now! Then issue a government
debit card and use it to collect a VALUE ADDED TAX at a rate- to be
determined- which would effectively cover Federal and State budgets,
with enough left over to begin paying down the national debt.
Don't worry the tax is regressive
because everyone now has a major incentive to save and/or move up the
economic ladder. Reassure the public that even though my proposed "government debit card"
makes even the smallest details of our lives known to the Feds, it’s
fair exchange for a roaring economy, and the more efficient, and
radically smaller government, that's part of the entire PACKAGE, or no
deal......the "What a Deal" is off the table.
.............I offer this fantastic vision, because you asked me.

Answer: Gary Stein,
"I’m happy to fill out your questionnaire, and I respect your
organization. You're not likely to be satisfied with my answers, but
please note my “yes” response to question #7. Questions #3 and #4 get
even deeper into already murky territory, which tells me the courts are the right place for this issue to be decided. I left those two questions, #'s 3 and 4, blank. If I’m still Congressman in 2012...
.....Unfortunately, heart wrenching, complicated issues like abortion, in my view, have no certain “yes” or “no” answers."

abortion, a look back ............
(link to)...Press of Atlantic City, The (NJ) - Monday, May 23, 1994
(The first of the Reader Line questions for 2nd District congressional candidates is from From Bernie Brown, Atlantic City, no party affiliation given:
"I would like to ask each candidate for Congress who supports abortion on demand to answer the following question: Do you believe that your own mother had a right to abort you?")
Sen. William Gormley, R-Atlantic:
I have always maintained that a legislative body is both ill-equipped
and unable to substitute its opinions for those who must make this
personal decision for themselves, especially since membership of most
legislative bodies is dominated by males. I am therefore pro-choice.

Assemblyman Frank LoBiondo , R-Cape May, Cumberland, Atlantic: .....

Answer:
Frank LoBiondo, "I believe a woman over the age of 18 should have the
right to answer that question."

2010 UAW Candidate Questionnaire
Part II, question 1
Will you support an increase in the federal minimum wage?
1) . No. I don’t support an increase at this juncture. I
dare my Congressman to answer that one. He’d say “no” as well if you
could catch him and pin him down, he is after all a REPUBLICAN.. And hello, never forget, he told GM and Chrysler to go to hell. Why do the UNIONS love him so? Forget the minimum wage question you just asked, nobody on a GM assembly line makes minimum wage anyway. This is key- I was for keeping GM breathing, Frank would have let it EXPIRE.

Miscellaneous
LoBiondo is my congressman, and I
always look forward to voting against him. But thanks to the Democrats,
whose failure to even run a candidate allowed this whackadoodle Reaganite to claim the nomination, I'm probably going to end up voting for LoBiondo for the first time in my life.

Furthermore, I would recommend
Mr. Stein getting his name out there. Everyone in this district (love
him or hate him) know of LoBiondo, while few have heard of Stein. I
honestly think you [Mr. Stein] have a good chance of winning or well
coming closer than previous nominees, if you get your name out there.
Try....
.....Whether or not you're the ideal candidate, I'll push my friends and family to vote for you!

There's a lot of truth in this piece about Rep. LoBiondo, especially
about his promise to run for only SIX terms that he has since broken!
Gary Stein did a wonderful job writing this!

Unfortunately you folks- and what's looking more and more like a majority here in S. Jersey- might waste a golden opportunity to unseat a real political hack, just
because (as been pointed out) I don't score A's and B's in certain specified categories
thought needed to run and get elected.
