AARP asks...
“Since the recession began, Americans
have been hit with devastating job losses, shrinking retirement savings,
declining home values and rising health care costs – many older
Americans nearing retirement have been disproportionately impacted. What
is your plan to help older workers get back to work and to improve
economic security for people of all generations?”

facebook "Friends, after several false starts, AARP finally accepted my 125 word statement for it's members to read and judge the candidates. I did a 180 turn
and made it all about Mexico! Doubtful incumbent LoBiondo even bothered turning one in. Kick him the heck out, voters!"

My final response to AARP, the one they made available to their member; below...
"As the only candidate or elected official to openly admit they had not one- but two- Mexican illegal aliens living in their house between the years 2001-2007 (since returned home to their families) here's the shame, AARP, if I'm not elected.
Republican House members won't have a chance to interact with me (former Republican) day to day- one on one- as I coax them over the amnesty hurdle. I’m unique, being someone with the personal history-credibility, to suggest linking immigration reform, secure borders, foreign aid, and boycotts- with pressure on the sleazy Mexican government to crack down on corruption in its ranks; all leading to the big payoff: huge increases in U.S.-Mexican trade and prosperity. Good economic news, for children and grandchildren of AARP members."

last week...... two different people from AARP had emailed me this
Dear Gary Stein,
Thank you for your interest in participating in AARP's online voters' guide. However, we cannot accept your response as it refers to your opponent. In the invitation email you received to participate in AARP's voters' guide, we asked you to specifically focus on your positions and not refer to other candidates. We welcome you to resubmit your response which you may repost at .....
and this .....
Good afternoo, Mr. Klein:
I just reviewed your response more closely. Are you saying you've
already provided a prior response in advance of my prompting the email
reminder I sent you yesterday?
If so, we'd really rather publish your thoughtful responses to the
issues addressed in our voter guide questionnaire. Please let us know,
as we'd really like to get this cleared up ASAP. Be sure to reply all
because my national office colleagues need to process all responses by
the deadline.
Again, the race in your congressional district has not been published
yet because we want responses from both candidates (you and LoBiondo) to
make it a worthwhile voter education effort.
Thanks,
Blenda

I responded by e-mail, "Please print this new answer below. I'm at such a disadvantage already, plus how do you answer a question like you've posed in 125 words?
Why don't you call me? Gary, 609-703-1741. I'm in Florida visiting my dad and my time on the library computer is limited. Why not post the answer as written? Let the voters decide if I'm impolite, unfocused or whatever? Thanks. p.s. the country is in deep doo doo, partly because of incumbents like Frank LoBiondo. Let's not stand on ceremony, please print the answer."

They were concerned about this response below, my 2nd or 3rd try- I forget -(mentioning the first rejection, also got rejected). They eventually accepted the response seen above. Below is one of the versions rejected out of hand...

"A rushed 125 word submission on deadline day- stating how I'd bring forth prosperity if elected- was rejected because I broke a rule and mentioned my opponent by name. Today I'm notified all candidates have another week. No more musing whether my opponent has filled out this, or other surveys, but note, he too gets another bite at the apple. What's his plan? I gave extensive answers to questions about the economy in a UAW questionnaire. Unlike my opponent, I supported GM and Chrysler. I'm not waiting for endorsements by them or AARP. Voters are a different matter.
How to get the economy on track, help older workers, and even pay down the national debt in 10 years? Please go to my web site."
